rooftop gardens
When Hermes announced that its new fragrance was inspired by its roof, some were perplexed as to what they were referring to. However, they later revealed their rooftop images and suddenly their inspiration was apparent - a rooftop oasis! This garden had been their best kept secret - one of the prettiest in Paris. Located atop their Faubourg Saint-Honore store, it is filled with lavender, pear trees, and magnolia trees - all designed by Jean-Louis Dumas [great-grandson of the atelier's founder, Thierry Hermes]. Dumas wanted to recreate the rural landscape of Normandy - which inspired the Hermes fragrance, Un Jarin Sur Le Toit. So, so amazing. I know, I'm obsessed with Hermes these days...

I'm usually such a black sort of girl...but these scandanavian-inspired, all-white spaces feel so fresh. Maybe thinking about painting some floors soon?

s p a c e s
This week, one of my best friends and roomie for the past two years moved out. I maybe quoted the line from friends where Monica starts crying and says, "...AND NOW I HAVE TO LIVE WITH A BOY!" about a thousand times. It has been sad because I know I'll never have girl roomies ever again, but also exciting to prepare my house for Billy's move-in date.
We knew we wanted to use Carlye's old room across the hall as the guest room, so I went ahead and moved my entire bedroom into that room and we're in the process of turning my old room with the gray walls and custom shelves into his manly office. As a real estate agent, he works from home a lot, so now he has man cave/office to escape to! I love it. My new bedroom has white wall and feels a lot brighter...I love the closet and my new headboard that I won at a recent auction for a mere $20 :) Here are some photos of the progress...

um.
first of all, I envy all fireplaces...but in a closet?
second of all...the natural lighting from the windows...
dream. come. true.

It has taken me DAYS to get through this blogroll...therefore, we're a bit behind on the times. These are four great kitchens I'd love to cook in...the floors might be the best part...

I have been eyeing this gorgeous, alice in wonderland-inspired drink dispenser (for lack of a better word) for a while now. My friend Katie, who knows me quite well...bought it for me as my wedding gift. I die. The card was quite adorable as well. I'm usually against people going off the registry, but on this case, I'm thrilled :)
