feeling nauti

Currently located in Watersound Beach with my family and sweet boy. We've been here for almost a week and finally gathering up enough sun to last us until Charleston for July 4th weekend. Found this cute print somewhere [don't remember] and thought it was applicable. Pictures coming soon.

I may be at the beach...but I'd also live here.
Loving those skull-inspired art pieces.

...that this is totally okay in my book.
Now I just need to find me some chunky socks.

WORDS WE DON'T SAY

I've found this on two of the blogs that I follow...but it is worth sharing to all of my fellow writers. If you've ever had a picky editor...this will make you laugh. When Kurt Andersen became the editor of the NY Times, he handed this list out to his staff. The list contains all of the words he preferred they not use while he was assuming the position of editor. HILARIOUS...especially his notes in parenthesis.

buy local

Every Tuesday this summer from 3:30 - 6:30, Sevier Park will have The 12th South Farmers Market where we can ride the mopeds down and buy our weekly produce and cheeses. This past Tuesday, I went to check it out and I'm excited. Very excited about my organization company, Edit Your Closet, being a sponsor - such a great thing to be a part of.

books on the wall

I love framing things, especially the more unusual items. I have recently seen a few cute ideas like the shopping bags above, but it doesn't really flow with my aesthetic I already have going in my home. Since I'm a huge book lover and collect a variety of children's books, I thought it would be cute to try framing a few of my favorite covers.

I found this idea on a blog that I frequent and thought it would be perfect. If not frame a few books, then I could paint my own versions of the covers? What do you think?

hello gorgeous

after months of contemplation...
finally broke down and bought her :)

B A N A N A S

This morning, I rode with Carlye to Clothing Xchange in Hillsboro Village because she was hoping to sell some clothing. While she was waiting to be checked in, I wandered around the store to look at the artwork displayed by local artists. I came upon this LARGE canvas of bananas and I really really liked it. I do not have a wall in my house large enough to house such large bananas...but if I did, I would have purchased this on the spot.

Next, I walked into Retropolitan next door. If you've never been here before, you must visit. It is owned by Amy Heimerman who used to sell her antique finds in Gaslamp as well as in the old Posh [which is where Retropolitan now resides]. I used to work at Posh when Amy had her furniture in there and actually bought a few pieces from her. When Kathy moved Posh down the block, Amy took Posh's old location to finally open up her own store. Today, I was clearly inspired by the artwork she had in store. I'm loving larger canvases - anything oversized intrigues me.

really liked the vintage upholstery on this chair
