P A R T Y T I M E

I've always wanted to have dinner parties. And by dinner party, I mean perfect table settings on the perfect table with the perfect guests engaging in the perfect conversation. The food, of course, will be something that I pretend to have just "whipped up" but really I'd been preparing all day. However, for all of these things to happen, I must have a table in which my guests could sit at. Although my attempted food will be fancy and the decorations will be adorable, I'm wanting my table as more of a rustic picnic in my dining room as opposed to a stuffy table with high-backed chairs. Which is where my new friend, Luke comes into play. I found him on craigslist. He will be making me a 5 ft long dark wood farm table for my dining room, complete with bench seats.

Hopefully it will be completed next week and I'll throw parties that look like this...

OH EM GEEEEEEEEE

I remember the first time I got a cell phone. It was an early Nokia phone with the removable faceplates and retractable antenna. In all its bulky glory, it was a piece. Even so, I couldn't have been more excited about it. As the years have gone on...each sibling has received their prized phone at an earlier age than my required age of 16. This Christmas morning, the final Rutledge baby received her extraordinary sliding phone at the mere age of 12. Probably one of the funniest things I've seen to date. CONGRATS, Elly Belly. You earned it...or something...

Also, this Christmas, the pups were awarded with several presents from family and other puppies. My canines are spoiled and I'm aware of that. At least I don't talk to them like their humans [when no one is around].

jeffrey campbell makes my heart flutter

I see hundreds and thousands of wonderful things that catch my eye on a daily basis but rarely does it consist of footwear. I have plenty of shoes and I know that. These days, furniture and home decor tends to get my pulse racing. However, I stumbled across a blog tonight that had the below Jeffrey Campbell Virgo wedges and my heart literally fluttered. IT FLUTTERED. I might have even gasped. I love them. I have to have them. I know it is Christmas but I just ordered them for myself. They arrive sometime in January and I can't even wear them until April or May...I DIE.

I might have ordered these too...who am I? Barbie?

some of God's greatest gifts

Last night I attended 1 of the 34543 Garth Brooks flood benefit concerts that have been happening this week at Bridgestone Arena. It amazes me that we paid a mere $25 a person and were able to witness one of the best concerts of all time. The best concerts are the ones where you know every word to every song and are sometimes moved to the point of tears. Yes, I said tears.  I'm no country music lover...but I've always loved Garth Brooks because I grew up with his music. And, yes, I absolutely have the two-disc compilation LIVE CD [you know, the gold ones with his face on them].

He sang every song we wanted him to sing [Callin Baton Rouge, Vessel (my favorite), Unanswered Prayers, Two Pina Coladas, Full House, Friends In Low Places, The Dance, etc] except for Standing Outside The Fire...I would have enjoyed that one. As a bonus, his wife, Trisha Yearwood came out and sang Walkaway Joe, He's In Love With A Boy, How Do I Live Without You and In Another's Eyes. I've been trying to upload video clips of them singing Walkaway Joe but Blogger is stupid.

Another unexpected but fantastic thing about the night was that our friends, Ricky and Ashley, had the seats directly next to us. The bizarre part about it was that they purchased them separately. It's crazy that out of all the nights and all the seats in that arena, those were the two seats they purchased...right next to ours. I find that amazing. It was so much more fun to see the show with them.
